AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy offers a variety of programmes ranging from 1-week Bootcamps, 3-months and 1-year long programmes. These range from classes we run in our Technology hub facility in Richards Bay and in Durban as well as programmes where we partner with Schools and NGOs.
Coding & Robotics Fundamentals
Introduction into the world of Software Engineering and Mechatronics!
This is a 10-month long program which introduces children to the world of Mechanical, Electronics, and Software Engineering. This cutting-edge program allows children aged 8-14 to code in Java to C/C++ and design groundbreaking technological advancements for the future. Attendance is weekly.
On registration, junior engineers (as we refer to them) get an Arduino Starter Kit which comes with an UNO R3 development board and a wide variety of sensors and actuators, including modules and components.
SPOTLIGHT ON MZANSI'S #1 TEEN ENTREPRENEUR FOR 2021/22
We are proud and blessed to have the South Africa's #1 Teen Entrepreneur for 2021/22 at the Academy! Alex is currently developing his v2.0 prototype of a Conveyor Belt-driven Plastic / Color Sorter for recycling. As part of the prize, he was awarded with a trophy, a certificate and R20000 from Students Advancement for Global Entrepreneurship South Africa and MTN Foundation. He further got an opportunity to join the University of Free State Business School to do NQF5 Entrepreneurship at the age of 13! Go Alex 'Elon Musk' Dodd!
AN EXAMPLE OF OUR CURRICULUM STRUCTURE:
Month 1: Intro to Coding
Juniors are introduced to writing code in C / C# and Java on their laptops. They are introduced to fundamentals of Software, Electronics Engineering and First Principles Thinking
Month 2: Intro to Arduino
On this section, we introduce juniors to Arduino components and sensors such as controlling lights, sound or object detection using their Arduino micro-computer.
Month 3: Idea / Concept
Juniors generate new ideas or solutions, using techniques such as mind mapping, prototyping, brainwriting, reverse brainstorming, etc
Month 4: Production
The actual building of the prototype is the lengthiest part of the process, includes 3D printing, Wood cutting and Laser cutting. Juniors work closely with technical mentors.
Month 6: Coding
After two months or so of working on the hardware, its back to coding and ensuring seamless integration between the software and hardware parts of the solution.
JUNIOR ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP
A junior can spend a maximum of 3-4 years at AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy with the 4th year open to an accelerator Programme for a select few (Commercialization)
YEAR 1: INTRO TO ROBOTICS FUNDAMENENTALS
Juniors are introduced to fundamentals of Software, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. They also develop the first version of their Arduino prototype
YEAR 2: INTRO TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP
As juniors continue developing their prototypes, they are introduced to Entrepreneurship as well as Media through blogging, podcasting etc
YEAR 3: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
They start raising funds through seeking donations / investments into their early stage products. Product development is at its peak.
YEAR 4: STARTUP ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME
Juniors who managed to raise funds and gain traction continue to join this special technical mentorship programme that will take their product to market.

We host free Open days for learners where we have an Introductory session to the world of coding and Robotics!
Guidance, Mentorship and Creative Freedom are the pillars of our educational experience at The Academy - We see children as light bearers and treat them as such. We give them ample space to experiment and explore in order to identify societal problems themselves and develop solutions.
